Last Months Social

This year we pushed the Sports night and Back to School theme back to Friday. That didn't seem to slow us down! Another sucessful themed Friday Night. Who would have thought! Just about everybody wore something whether it was just a baseball cap or a full blown School Girl oufit

Saturday afternoon continued with the decorating of the dance hall. Virginia Friends spared no expence of making this dance memorable. A special thanks to all the couples that came down to the dance hall and helped with some complicated scenery. We just can't thank you enough!

Then the real party started Saturday evening as we had our first annual "Enchantment Under the Sea" dance. Combined with "Back the Prom" this event was like no other. Just about all the couples dressed to the nines for this wonderful event. The atmosphere was definitely enchanted and the DJ played a variety of hits from all the decades. The photographer was there to capture the moment and print them on the spot. This turned out to be a huge sucess!

The yearbooks turned out to be yet another bit hit! People just can't keep complimenting on them. The VIP's did a great job in making sure that everbody signed them.

We would like to thank everyone that participated in last months Prom theme. It is these kind of members that make the events so fun.

We would like to honor Dave and Mary the King and Queen of the dance but would also recognize James / Margie and Tom / Nancy for their dedication to VAF. It doesn't go without notice. Also awards to to Chrissy for " Most likely to do the Football, Basketball, Baseball team and Cheerleading Squad. Vicky for the "Most Likely to Suckseed" and to Charlie as the "ValeDicktorian".


Tantalizing Night of Terror

Friday night will be a night to relax and kick back. That's right, back to the casual dress Friday night as we have our "Come as you are" dance. This month as some of you know CJ the DJ has relocated to the north. All is not lost though as Astro DJ's will bring 1 of 2 veteran Disk Jockeys back to the club. It will either be Danny or Greg, both of which have played our club with great revues.

Everybody likes to dress up for this dance. Most VAF members tend to go all out. In the past few years the number of couples dressing up have increased dramatically. All we ask is that you wear appropriate attire.

As always we plan on having the costume contest with the best looking couples costume. And of course in VAF tradition the sexiest ladies costume. This year we may even had the 3rd annual "Spank the Monkey" contest. Who knows???


Saturday Afternoon Activities

For this Octobers Saturday activities we will head to Charles' house for an afternoon of activities. We will get together that afternoon from 12 to 4ish? Directions will be available Friday evening and Saturday morning at the hotel. It is about a 30 minute ride from the hotel but it is well worth it. There will be plenty of food and drinks there at the cookout. Plus plenty of activities throughout the the afternoon.

For those of you who have not been before, he has a 4 wheeler, horseshoes, gun range and plenty of things to do to mix and meet people.


Hampton Roads "Gathering" update and future meetings.

The Local Gatherings just keep getting ever more popular. Last month we had about 20 couples join us in Virginia Beach even though we forgot to email the reminder email. This month with the response we have had we expect even a bigger turnout. Some couples are even driving down from the Richmond area for these events. The next “Gathering” will be November 11th combining it with our Staff appreciation party.

Just a few quick notes. We have had a lot of requests from some couples that want to purchase the yearbook. We will attempt to have some available at the next couple of socials for $10 a each.

Last year we sold out the hotel and we will probably do so again this year. Kathy the hotel manager in charge of our group is out on vacation till Wednesday October 25th and will make all the reservations when she gets back. Please contact the hotel ASAP as you don't want to spend the night across the street.
