Back by popular demand we had the 3rd Annual 69.69 Member Appreciation dance. Being so close to New Years we thought we have a small turnout. However, we ended up with over 75 couples that took advantage of the free social and the discounted rooms. Did you notice the dance floor? Thanks to Bill he refurbish the edges and installed some lighting into it. Looks great Bill!

Once again the balloon popping contest was good for some laughs. A lot of new faces finally got the nerve up to enter one of our contests.

With a limited budget we asked that members help out by donating food for upstairs. We heard nothing but good things on how wonderful the food was. The staff would like to personally thank Bob & Linda, Charlie & Caryn, James & Margie, Dave & Mary, Bunny & Rob, Jeff & Pat, Bill & Lymon, Kevin & Crystal, Penny & Robert, Les & Sharon and Sue & John for all their efforts.

Dear Randy,

Looks like we finally got our winter but we will try to keep things heated up for you. This year we plan on some new improvements along with some extra added bonuses to the mix. Look out for some ideas as well as variations on themes.


February 17th and 18th

This tradition started years back when we used to avoid putting the dance anywhere near Valentines Day in fear that no one would show up. Unfortunately or fortunately, the hotel only had a weekend open on Valentines Day. We took a chance and did it. That turned out to be one the most successful dances in VAF history at the time. Since then we always tried to put it as near the 14th as possible. As it evolved through the years we noticed that more and more people were dressing specifically the girls wearing red. So 3 years ago we just formalized into what it is today, the 3rd Annual “Lady in Red” dance.


Kissing Contest

Last year we had 90+ couples attend and as of right now we are on target for about the same. This month we will not be taking formal photos but we will have a backdrop and be doing our normal pics. You don’t want to miss this red hot dance some make plans to attend if you already haven’t. I’m sure you don’t want to miss the kissing contest like we had last year. I know I’m not going to miss it!


Local "Gatherings" update

Some people have inquired about the “Gatherings”. As most of you know the Nightfever has changed owner and theme. This place is no longer condusive to our kind of group. We have been invited to 2 other bars. Since we are having social close together we decided to hold off on these events. However we do plan on bringing them back in March or April. We’ll keep you posted. Oh, and happy Valentine’s Day!!!


The Breakfast Club

After talking to some of our members, it has become apparent that there is an interest in an early morning gathering on Saturday. After talking with some couples and numerous emails it seems like there has been an informal congregation in the 4th floor hall around the coffee pot. Usually around 9am till 11am. Comments have ranged from we met so many couples to we enjoyed the coffee and a conversation.

So here it is. This will be our first monthly “Breakfast Club” meeting complete with coffee, donuts, bagels and muffins. If your one of the couples that take advantage of the “Friday Night” socials, then support the cause and make sure you show up to voice your mourning comments! See you there.
